Title: Beer
Character(s)/Pairing: Kensi, Deeks
Rating: K+?
Word Count: 351
“I thought you just wanted to have a beer with your partner.”
“I did, I had several beers with my partner...and then I slept with my best friend and we need to talk about that.”
“Look, we need to go to work, we don’t have time for this right now.”
“Okay, Fern, but after work we are going to discuss this.”
That had been this morning and since then Kensi had avoided all contact with Deeks. She was trying to come up with some way to avoid this discussion. She really did not want to talk about her feelings. Which meant that she had feelings about him. And what happens if he doesn’t have those same feelings for her? God, this is why she’s a serial first dater. No messy discussions where someone could get hurt, just a fun evening and not seeing that person everyday or ever again.
“Kens?” she heard softly from behind her. Crap, she hadn’t been paying attention.
“Yeah? Oh hey, I forgot I need to go see...” she replied.
“Stop, okay? I just want to ask if you maybe want to talk about everything over a nice dinner?” Deeks asked quietly.
“Why don’t we just forget that it ever happened?” Kensi pleaded.
“Is that what you want? Cause I gotta tell you...um, I was kinda hoping we could see where ‘our thing’ would take us,” replied Deeks, looking at his feet.
“Seriously, we are at work. I can’t do this right now!” she hissed.
“Are you ever going to be able to do this?” he asked, looking up and putting his hands on either side of her face.
“Will you just...I’m not good at...I just don’t know...we can’t do this here,” she said, trying to stay calm.
“Then go to dinner with me and I’ll drop it now,” he offered.
“Okay. Dinner. But I’m not promising anything. Just dinner,” but she knew that she was kidding herself. She knew that she had feelings for him, and if anyone could convince her to try a relationship again, it would be her partner.
